The Beautiful Game

nev-soccerNo matter what the business world has thrown at me and through the ups and down of life, football has always been a constant. I’ve been a student of the game since I can remember and back in 1983 I even had a chance to play in the football league with Newport County, but back then sales offered better pay and prospects!

I played for many Welsh clubs as a semi-pro including; Pontardawe, Port Talbot, Carmarthen, and for a short while I travelled to play for Ton Pentre and Brecon as they paid a little more. My longest and in many respects happiest spell was at Briton Ferry Athletic. It was at Briton Ferry that I played in the first ever season of the Konica League of Wales in 1992/1993. It was a tough season but we managed to keep our place in the top division. I loved the camaraderie that came with playing and I’m sure my goal scoring and disciplinary records remain lodged in the minds of many!

nev-trundleThe one time PE teacher in me rose to the surface once again when my boys were younger and I spent many happy seasons coaching youth teams in the Swansea leagues. These days I’m limited to the occasional charity match or works game but you’ll always find me at The Liberty Stadium providing vociferous support for the mighty Swans, Wales’s only premier league club (sorry Cardiff!).

Whether it is business or public speaking, football or media work, I remain, as my early school reports would attest, ‘a busy boy’ and I wouldn’t have it any other way, because of course I love it, I absolutely love it!

Love Nev x
